"Latitude" and "Longitude" series Triangle Beater sets
Explore timbral and dynamic variations with these 9 different end-weighted beaters. The beaters in the Latitude set are matched in weight and balance point, but have five different striking tip diameters ranging from half an inch (designated "+2") down to 3/16 of an inch (designated "-2"). The central beater is 5/16 of an inch in diameter (designated the "Meridian") and is also the central beater in the Longitude triangle beater set featured below. The beaters have a stainless steel shaft and a silicone rubber grip. They are available individually or as a set of five.
Latitude Series Triangle Beaters
The Longitude set of triangle beaters are all of equal striking tip diameter (5/16 of an inch), but have a progressive series of weights ranging from extra heavy (designated "+2") down to extra light (designated "-2"). The central beater is of medium weight (designated the "Meridian") and is also the central beater in the Latitude set featured above. The beaters have a stainless steel shaft and a silicone rubber grip. They are available individually or as a set of five.
Longitude Series Triangle Beaters
My Teardrop tip triangle beaters are available in two weights: light and heavy, and three metals: brass, bronze and stainless steel. The teardrop tip shape allows for changing timbre and dynamic without having to change beater, simply by changing the point on the tip where you make contact with the triangle. The beaters have a stainless steel shaft as standard and a silicone rubber grip. The combination of end-weighting (versus the more simple, uniform thick rod style of beater) and the silicone grip make for good damping of beater self-noise and click. These teardrop beaters are also available with carbon fibre shafts, which are a little more nimble and have even less beater self-noise. They are available individually or in pairs. I would recommend, as a starting point, matching the tip metal to your triangle metal - brass for brass, bronze for bronze, steel for steel. Using mis-matched metals will give a subtle change in overtone presentation in the triangle and in contact noise. Generally, brass tips produce a slightly warmer sound, bronze a more general purpose and balanced sound, and stainless steel tips bring out a little more edge.
